On October 4, 2024, Malaysian Prime Minister H. E. Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), to discuss bilateral strategic interests, regional security, and defense cooperation.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim praised the Pakistan Armed Forces' role in regional peace and stability, acknowledging their professionalism and sacrifices in combating terrorism. He emphasized the need to enhance bilateral ties, particularly military relations between the two brotherly countries, and extended an invitation to the COAS to visit Malaysia in this context.
The COAS thanked the Prime Minister for the invitation and appreciated the successful visit to Pakistan, which will help further strengthen the enduring and historic ties between the two countries and their militaries.
The COAS also attended the Investiture Ceremony and State Banquet held in honor of the Prime Minister of Malaysia at the Presidency.
