Pakistan Navy handed over 8 Iranian fishermen to the Consulate General of brotherly neighbor, the Islamic Republic of Iran, on pure humanitarian grounds. In response to a distress call from an Iranian fishing boat under massive fire, Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) YARMOOK immediately dashed to handle the situation while operating in vicinity. Despite heavy fire on the vessel, PNS YARMOOK not only safely rescued all eight crew members who had abandoned the boat into the sea, but also controlled the fire onboard the blazing vessel using its own modern firefighting equipment.
PN is committed and obligated to effectively ensure Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) in line with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), while safeguarding national maritime frontiers.
