Water Preservation, Environment & Population Saving the Beloved Planet

May 2024

Have you ever felt that we get so caught up in our daily routines that we forget to pay attention to the world around us? It’s easy to get wrapped up in school, friends, and fun activities, but there’s something really important we need to remember: water, our environment, and the population!

Have you ever stopped for a while and thought about the trees outside your home, or the water running in your taps? These things might seem unimportant and boring, but these are really important to our everyday lives. Now, you might be thinking, “What does all of this has to do with me?” Well, it actually has everything to do with you! The environment around you, and the climate affects everything; from the air we breathe to the food we eat and even the population of people living on this earth. That’s why it's so important for us to learn about them and take care of them.
Saving Every Drop of Water
Water is essential for life. We use it to drink, cook, clean, and grow food. But do you know that not everyone has access to clean water? Millions of people around the world struggle to find safe water to drink every day. That’s why it’s essential to conserve water and keep our rivers, lakes, and oceans clean. In Quran, Allah says, “We made every living thing from water.” This shows that water is essential not only for the survival of human beings but also for animals, plants and other living beings. Awareness campaigns about water reservation teach us how to use water wisely and avoid wasting it. Every drop counts!
Call to Action
•    Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.
•    Take shorter baths and showers.
•    Check your pipes for any leaks and fix them timely.
•    Don’t leave the water running while washing dishes.
•    Wash your car on the lawn so that water isn’t wasted.
•    Turn off the tap when you are soaping your hands.
•    Use a washing machine that utilizes less water.
•    Don’t throw away the water left in your bottle, rather use it to water the plants.
Protecting the Environment
Our planet is home to an incredible diversity of life from beautiful plants and animals, to the ecosystem and climate. But human activities like pollution, deforestation, and climate change are putting them at risk. You might remember the catastrophic floods of Pakistan in 2022. These floods were primarily the aftermath of industrialization and rapid climate change, thus wreaking havoc in several parts of the country. From inundating homes to destroying crops and collapsing infrastructure, the floods posed significant challenges entirely due to exacerbating climate imbalances. Owing to the dramatic acceleration of urbanization in the past few years, climates have faced a drastic change in the form of environmental degradation. That’s where environmental awareness campaigns come in. By learning about the environment and how our actions affect it, we can make better choices to protect it.
Call to Action
•    Reduce, reuse, and recycle waste products.
•    Use energy-efficient appliances.
•    Support eco-friendly businesses.
•    Reduce the carbon footprint by conserving energy.
•    Use public transportation more often.
•    Protect biodiversity by preserving natural habitats.
•    Conduct plantation drives in schools and colleges.
•    Save energy by turning off the lights and electric appliances when not in use.
•    Organize clean-up events in your neighborhood and local parks.
•    Support for wildlife protection.
Our Growing World and Population Increase
Do you know that every second 4.4 people are born around the world? Think about it; 385,000 babies add to the planet each day! This definitely feels like a lot, right? Population growth is one of the major challenges in today’s modern world. When there are only a few people, there are plenty of resources like water, food, and space for everyone. But as the number of people living on Earth is growing rapidly, there’s a greater demand for these resources. Population growth means more people needing things like food, water, shelter, and energy. This puts pressure on our planet’s resources because there’s only so much to go around. That’s why it’s important for us to learn about population growth and find ways to use resources wisely. If we’re not careful, then this can put a strain on the planet, and lead to problems like overcrowding, pollution, and habitat destruction.
Call to Action
•    Help our planet by doing little things every day; saving water, recycling our trash and conserving energy.
•    Taking care and providing food for stray animals.
•    Connect with nature through walks and trips.
•    Learn more about population growth and spread the information with your friends.
•    Do atleast one good act of kindness every day.
Superheroes for the Planet!
Still wondering? And thinking “What can I do to help?” Well, the good news is, you have the power to become a superhero. That’s right – not with capes and masks, but with kindness, courage, and care for our planet! From picking up trash to planting trees, every small action you take makes a difference in protecting our home. Together, we can save the day and make the world a better place for everyone.
Spread the Word: Talk to your friends, family, and classmates about the importance of water reservation, protecting the environment, and understanding the population growth. The more people know, the more they can help! You can talk about organizing educational workshops in your schools, communities, and online platforms to educate people and share practical tips for saving water, conserving energy and protecting the climate.
Get Involved: Join local clean-up events in your street, park and school to pick up trash and learn about how to recycle it. Cleaning water bodies like beaches and lakes can also improve the quality of water. Plant trees in your community, and arrange outdoor activities such as nature walks, to connect people with the natural world and inspire them to take action to protect it.
Be Mindful: Think about the choices you make every day and how they impact the environment. Can you walk or use a bike instead of taking a car? Can you use less plastic or recycle more? Are there any local businesses promoting water-saving initiatives? Make a conscious effort to support people who are working to protect the planet.
Keep Learning: Stay curious and keep learning about the world around you. Participate in school competitions such as poster making, essay writing, or poetry contests on the theme of environment protection. This will help students express their ideas about why the environment is important and how they can contribute to it. The more you know, the better equipped you'll be to make a difference.
Remember, you’re never too young to make a difference! The environment is not something separate from us; it’s part of who we are. By working together and raising awareness about water reservation, the environment, and population, we can create a brighter and healthier future for all living things on our amazing planet Earth.
