The opening ceremony of the 7th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Exercise-2024 took place at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Pabbi on February 25, 2024. The Director General of Military Training inaugurated the 60-hour-long patrolling exercise, aiming to enhance military-to-military cooperation in a complex international security environment.
A total of 20 friendly countries, including military observers, participated in the event. Major participants comprised Pakistan, Bahrain, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Maldives, Morocco, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkiye, the United States of America, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Myanmar, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, and Oman witnessed the exercise as military observers.
PATS is a mission-specific and task-oriented professional military exercise organized annually in Pakistan. The exercise demands the highest standards of physical fitness, mental agility/robustness, and professional military expertise for quick decision-making in varied situations during the conduct of challenging missions in a near-real environment.
The aim and objectives of this exercise center around perseverance acclaimed through team spirit. The exercise aimed to hone basic soldierly attributes and promote interoperability through the sharing of innovative ideas and mutual best practices.
The closing ceremony of 7th International PATS Exercise-2024 was conducted at Kharian Garrison on February 29, 2024.
COAS, General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
While addressing the ceremony, COAS appreciated the participating teams for their professionalism, physical and mental endurance and high morale displayed during various stages of the exercise.
He reiterated mutual learning during such exercises and highlighted that PATS is the right forum, which appropriately combines professional military skills and tactical acumen of all participating soldiers, fostering much-needed team spirit in the face of evolving character of war. To this effect, Pakistan Army upholds rich soldierly attributes of character, courage and competence, which have amply been displayed by our men in the face of fight against terrorism.”
At the end, COAS gave away individual and team awards to the participants of the exercise. International observers and Defense Attachés of participating countries also attended the ceremony and appreciated its professional conduct.
Earlier on arrival, COAS was received by Commander Mangla Corps.
