Editor's Note

It is that time of the year when everyone plans an escape to beat the heat and monotony of their daily routine. With children having their summer break, families spend weeks planning and peering at maps to choose destinations where they could retreat, relax and rejuvenate to come back to their everyday life with renewed energy. For Pakistanis, they need not look any further than their breathtaking homeland, while more and more foreigners also tend to gravitate towards Pakistan.
Pakistan is an irresistible country endowed with varied landscapes. From the mighty Karakoram and Himalayas in the North to the vast alluvial delta of the Indus River metamorphosing into barren desert, to the wetlands and coasts of Arabian Sea in the South, Pakistan remains a land that offers something for everyone: trekking, mountaineering, white water rafting, mountain and desert jeep safaris, camel and yak safaris, trout fishing and bird watching are a few activities, which lure the adventure and nature lovers to Pakistan. It is a meld of different ethnicities, languages, civilizations, cultures, cuisines and a land where history meets modernity, giving it inimitable cultural distinctiveness. Apart from having a great time, there is also an opportunity here for learning and exploration, particularly for children who can get a glimpse into history and ancient civilizations by being exposed not to the written word but by experiencing the unique cultural heritage of the country.
Pakistan is a heaven for tourists, both local and international. In 2010, Lonely Planet termed Pakistan as being "... tourism's ‘next big thing’ for more years than we care to remember.” In 2018, the British Backpacker Society ranked Pakistan as the world's top adventure travel destination, describing the country as "one of the friendliest countries on earth, with mountain scenery that is beyond anyone’s wildest imagination." This remains true till date with Forbes listing it among the top ten ‘coolest places’ to visit in 2019.
To make it even more enticing, the country offers safety and security for families in general and females in particular, to take road trips, go camping or indulge in adventure sports and also cater to their wanderlust. Pakistan welcomes many foreigners every year, coming to enjoy the rich cultural, historical and culinary experience along with providing opportunities to immerse in nature and satiate their sense of adventure and thrill-seeking by partaking in numerous activities from water sports to skiing to paragliding and zip lining, etc.
All in all, Pakistan is an experience like no other, one which has the potential to become a lifelong memory to be cherished. One cannot but hope that more domestic and foreign tourists, particularly females, will endeavor to explore the grandeur of Pakistan — a geographically and ethnically diverse country, with rich historical and cultural heritage, offering hospitality and friendliness, natural beauty, adventure sports and opportunities to learn about ancient civilizations and history. It is a destination that will make you want to come back again and again! HH
