Progress towards Enduring Peace through Socio-Economic Development Comes First: COAS

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Peshawar and interacted with students of various universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Corps Auditorium.

While talking to the attendees COAS stated, “Pakistan is blessed with a dynamic and talented youth to whom the future of Pakistan belongs. The Pakistani nation and its armed forces have done a great job fighting against terrorism. It’s time now to reap the dividends of this national effort through socio-economic development, of which education is of utmost importance.”
Referring to Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), COAS said, “PTM itself is not an issue. The issues being highlighted are genuine and natural in the post-operation environment. However, few individuals playing in foreign hands are by design exploiting sentiments of the people who have actually suffered at the hands of terrorism and now need care.” COAS concluded by saying, “Both the government and security forces are working to address genuine issues of the people in tribal areas regardless of where they come from. For us, progress towards enduring peace through socio-economic development comes first and we shall fail all inimical forces and their conspiracies trying to undo our gains.”
Students expressed their full support for Pakistan Armed Forces with the resolve that instead of being swayed by detractors of any kind or being bystanders they will be active contributors to the bright future of Pakistan.
