PAF’s JF-17 Thunder Awes Aviation Experts and Enthusiasts
Parisian skies echoed with the thundering sound of PAF JF-17 as it took off for a spectacular aerobatics display on the opening day of 53rd International Paris Airshow at Paris-Le Bourget Airport on June 17. Painted in the colour scheme of national flag, the pride of Pakistan exhibited a dazzling aerial performance which included some extraordinary maneuvers like the muscle climb, thunder turn, slow speed performance and inverted flight. The astounding performance by the PAF demo pilot, Wing Commander Zeeshan Baryar left the spectators spellbound. The viewers were amazed to see this sleek and agile multirole fighter aircraft display its capabilities alongside the French made Rafale.
Besides aerobatics demonstration, one JF-17 was also put on static display showcasing its latest range of weapons. A large number of aviation experts and potential buyers viewed the aircraft, which has been indigenously manufactured at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra.
Paris Air Show is the largest aerospace industry exhibition which is organized by SIAE, a subsidiary of GIFAS, the French Aerospace Industries Association, after every two years. It brings together a large number of exhibiters, global aerospace companies and aircraft manufacturers from around the world.
Aviation lovers turned up to see the static and aerial display of PAF JF-17 Thunder on the last day of the air show. Being a weekly holiday, the vast venue was filled with excited spectators of all ages as the gates opened for the general public. Elegantly displayed alongside other aircraft and defence equipment, the indigenously manufactured JF-17 Thunder remained the star attraction of the show. The eager crowd was briefed about the operational capabilities and its sophisticated weaponry by the PAF personnel. The public was ecstatic to see the jet in their midst.
Apart from the static display, the PAC manufactured aircraft also presented a farewell aerobatics performance. The excitement of the eagerly awaiting crowd was palpable as the aircraft roared in the skies of Paris on June 23.
Participation of PAF contingent in the largest air show of the world has provided an excellent opportunity to showcase its cutting edge capabilities. It has also given an opportunity to the potential buyers to assess its immense potential in the international market.
