Hazrat Usman bin Affan (RA) was the Third Caliph of Islam. He was one of the closest Companions of the Prophet (PBUH). He had the honour of having the title of “Zun-Nurain” that means “the Possessor of Two Lights” for his marriage to two of the Prophet’s daughters. He was famous for his wealth, generosity, piety, honesty and integrity. He was one of the twenty-two educated people in Makkah who knew how to write. He was elected Amir-ul-Momineen (the Supreme Leader of the Faithful) by a council of Shura members, after the demise of Second Caliph Hazrat Umar (RA), in 644. He has the credit of issuing the official standardized version of Quran in complete recitation tenor, which continues to be followed to date.
