UN Medal Parade: Honoring the Efforts of Pakistan’s Peacekeepers in the DRC

Force Commander, United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), Lt Gen Marcos De Sá Affonso Da Costa of Brazil, awarded UN medals to the Pakistani peacekeepers of both Pakistan Rapidly Deployable Battalion-6 and Pakistan Aviation Unit-10 in a ceremony held at the Combat Operating Base Sange on December 13, 2021. Commander Southern Sector, Brig Ahmed Jawad, accompanied the chief guest. The medal parade was attended by Military Observers (MILOBS) and local notables. The Force Commander appreciated all ranks of the Pakistani contingents for their exemplary performance and hard work. He also acknowledged the efforts and work done by Pakistan’s female peacekeepers who proved that they can perform remarkably well under difficult circumstances. The ceremony comprised of cultural representation of the DRC and Pakistan by the children from Sange town and Pakistani soldiers respectively.
