Pakistani Contingent Celebrates UN Day in Kabkabiya on October 24

Force Commander UNAMID Visits High-performing Units at Kabkabiya Team Site

On October 24, 2019 the eve of 74th UN Day, Lt Gen Leonard Muriuki Ngondi, Force Commander (FC) UNAMID visited the Kabkabiya team site to assess the operational preparedness and security situation, and to meet his officers and troops and raise their morale. He was presented a guard of honour by Pakistan Battalion-8 and was briefed on operational and civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) activities being performed for the welfare of the deprived local community of Kabkabiya. He visited Pakistan Field Hospital-11 and went around all 12 departments of the hospital and was briefed in detail regarding all available facilities being offered by the highly professional Pakistani Healers. He was apprised regarding the close coordination of Pakistan Army Contingent with Sudanese civil and army officials. Its manifestation was later displayed at the inauguration of Children’s Park in Jabl Cee Girls School in the presence of the Commissioner, Shartai and Education Director Kabkabiya. He lauded the efforts of Pakistan Army Contingent in bringing peace, tranquility and prosperity to the area under the auspices of UNAMID Peace Building Initiative. The Force Commander UNAMID also directed Pakistan Army Contingent to take all segments of society onboard through various relevant UNAMID sections to bring the desired synergy in the ongoing peace process of UNAMID. 


UNAMID Peacekeepers Conduct a Free Medical Camp

On October 24, 2019 Pakistan Army Contingent organized a free medical camp in Kabkabiya Town. Lt Gen Leonard Muriuki Ngondi, Force Commander UNAMID, witnessed the medication and treatment being provided to the destitute people of Darfur. 
Pakistani Healers continue to uphold the legacy of recurrently offering medical assistance by organizing such philanthropic activities to assist the local populace. Pakistani doctors and medical staff provided free medical treatment and medicines to 891 patients (373 males and 518 females). The medical camp was organized in consonance with local Sudanese administration and received gratitude and appreciation from both UNAMID and the local community.


Pakistani Peacekeepers Construct First-ever Children’s Park at Kabkabiya

On October 24, 2019 Pakistan Battalion-8 organized the inauguration of Children’s Park at Jabl Cee Girls School, Kabkabiya as a part of United Nations Day celebrations. It was inaugurated by Lt Gen Leonard Muriuki Ngondi, Force Commander UNAMID, who lauded the efforts of Pakistan Army Contingent as another feather in their cap in promoting and patronizing peace under the umbrella of UNAMID Peace Building Initiative. The park has been constructed through the indigenous efforts of Pakistani peacekeepers. This facility will serve as the breeding ground for healthy recreational activities for the underprivileged children of the area. Force Commander UNAMID was accompanied by international UN staff of more than 10 nations, who also admired the pragmatic efforts of Pakistan Army Contingent in Darfur in providing the first-ever modern children’s park facility at Kabkabiya.
