COAS Visits Pakistan Ordnance Factories Wah and Heavy Industries Taxila

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah and Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) on August 21, 2019.
At POF, COAS inaugurated Urea Formaldehyde Moulding Compound (UFMC) Plant at Wah Nobel Chemicals Factory. The project has been completed in 8 months. This new plant is equipped with the latest and most economical silver catalyst technology which will reduce the production cost. COAS also visited POF display centre where new defense products were showcased. He appreciated the achievements of Research and Development Department of POF.
COAS stressed upon the management of POF to adopt proactive approach for entering into joint ventures with foreign countries as well as private sector and bringing diversification to its product range. At HIT, COAS was shown defense manufacturing facilities including upgradations of various tanks.
He appreciated the efforts and contributions of POF and HIT in manufacturing defense and security equipment at par with international standards, making defense capability robust and ensuring self-reliance, which is contributing to saving for the national exchequer.
