Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force met with the senior military leadership of Turkey during an official visit on June 29, 2021.
The Air Chief separately called on the Minister for National Defence of Turkey, Mr. Hulusi Akar and Chief of the Turkish General Staff, General Yaşar Güler. During the meetings, he discussed ways to further promote Pakistan-Turkey defence ties, particularly between the two Air Forces through mutual experience sharing as well as relying on the respective strengths of each side.
Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, also called on Commander Turkish Air Force, General Hasan Küçükakyüz. Both commanders held a detailed discussion on enhancing collaboration and exchanging expertise between the Air Forces of the two countries to meet the challenges of the contemporary world. The discussion also included the exchange and training of pilots between PAF and TurAF.
Chief of the Air Staff was awarded with Legion of Merit of Turkish Armed Forces presented by General Hasan Küçükakyüz, Commander Turkish Air Force in recognition of his outstanding services for promotion of collaboration and ties between the two Air Forces.
He also called on the President of Turkish Defence Industries, Prof. Dr. Ismail Demir on June 30, 2021.
During his interaction with Prof. Dr. Ismail Demir, the Air Chief appreciated the Turkish defence production sector, which has made unprecedented progress over the last few years. The Air Chief appreciated the efforts put in by the Turkish defence industry for indigenization and modernizing of its defence fleet. He also reiterated his commitment to take Pakistan-Turkey military industry cooperation to new heights by capitalizing on the respective strengths of each side.
Later in the day, the Air Chief visited the Military Electronic Industries of Turkey (ASELSAN) and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). Commander Turkish Air Force General Hasan Küçükakyüz was also present at TAI.
